On New Year's Day 1790, the Daniells left Chunar (see lot 24) and travelled southwards about ten miles, to Saktisgarh. This area has many waterfalls which, the following day, they began to draw. They found it 'the most romantic place we have met with in our travels. Were told that there were a number of Tygers and Wolves near the place but saw neither'(Journal).
