Theo Fennell established his eponymous company in 1982 in London’s Fulham Road. The brand soon made its mark on the London jewellery scene with its striking Bombe rings, Skulls, Keys and Crosses made of brightly coloured stones. The Theo Fennell Bombe ring is now one of the brand’s most recognisable designs.
By the 1990s, Theo Fennell had clients all over the world and was designing some of the most prestigious awards and sporting trophies made of silver. The decade also saw the launch of Theo Fennell’s Tod, Weft and Twain designs.
In addition to crafting bespoke and one-of-a-kind pieces, Theo Fennell began producing small collections of everyday jewellery and silverware for the home. The Theo Fennell Gilded Youth programme — an initiative intended to support emerging young jewellery and silver talent — was launched to great acclaim in 2007. The studio and workshop continue to operate from its Fulham Road HQ to this day.
Signature Theo Fennell designs include key pendants, cross pendants, heart pendants and bracelets with charms shaped as skulls, serpents and letters. Other popular pieces include skull rings and brooches in the form of bees, spiders and salamanders.
In recent years, Christie’s has sold Theo Fennell rings, necklaces, earrings and brooches. Limited-edition diamond cross pendants can also be acquired at auction. As for gentlemen’s accessories, Christie’s has sold Theo Fennell cufflinks, wristwatches and signet rings.
Beyond jewellery and accessories, Christie’s has sold Theo Fennell silver for the home. Recently sold silver pieces include candlesticks, novelty decanters and place card holders.
