Iconic works from Martin Parr’s Archives – by Galerie Clémentine de la Féronnière
拍卖概览
To coincide with Paris Photo, Christie’s Paris is excited to present Iconic works from Martin Parr’s Archives – by Galerie Clémentine de la Féronnière. Parr is a compulsive collector, a prolific author, and a committed curator. Few artists have captured the contemporary world as Martin Parr has. In nearly 50 years of his career, he has not only marked the history of photography, but also captured the imprint of a world that is spinning at a frantic pace. This exhibition brings together exceptional pieces from Parr’s archives, each tying to themes of overconsumption and mass tourism with a biting sense of humour.
This exhibition invites audiences to explore iconic pieces from the 70s through to the 21st century, starting with his early black and white prints from the 70s when he was a young photographer yet to explore with colour; to vintages pieces from his Small World (1996) and Fashion Faux Parr (1999) series. It is a culmination of a Parr world!
This exhibition is complemented with a selection of photographs by Robert Mapplethorpe and André Kertész, all on view 5–11 November, free and open to all.
