A drawing of the same subject and similar in its free handling of the pen was with Colnaghi, London-New York, May-June, 1994, no. 27, illustrated. The use of red wash is characteristic of Bourdon.
The attribution to Bourdon was kindly confirmed by Heinz Widauer who dated the drawing to the second half of the 1650s.
