The 'Mechtilde' design was one of six linen fabrics for sale at the Omega Workshops when it opened in July 1913. It was printed in several different colour schemes by the Maromme Print Works in Rouen, France, and was named after Princess Mechtilde Lichnowsky, the wife of a German Ambassador who financially supported Fry's Omega project.
