FIRST EDITION. "The basis of this book is thirty-two of the plates from Willyams's earlier work, A Voyage up the Mediterranean in His Majesty's ship the Swiftsure, 1802," states Abbey who notes that the plates have been "re-aquatinted and re-etched in some places, presumably owing to wear. The signatures have been altered and the imprints removed. The colouring of the plates was much superior on the earlier occasion." Abbey Travel 198.
