Compiled by Captain Pilkington Jackson RA, probably when he was stationed at Gibraltar from the late 1850s-mid 1860s. Jackson was an accomplished water-colourist and after leaving the army went to America where for many years he taught art in Concord, New Hampshire. The watercolours include the work of Orlando Norie (2 signed), Edgar E. West (three, one signed), and [?..] Duncan (two signed). The drawings include the work of [?..] Martin (fifteen, two signed). Two of the watercolours are signed by Jackson and stylistically it seems likely that several others are also his work.R
