The print signed at lower left by the photographer: "Ad. Turnachau & fils. 17 Rue des Italiens." Boldly inscribed in ink in lower margin: "a mon aimable ami John Thomas G. Rossini..." While carte-de-visite photographs of Rossini are relatively common, large format portraits are rarely encountered.
