TWO RARE AMBER VASES
18th/19th Century
One of octagonal baluster form, the plain body carved at top and bottom in low relief with a ruyi border, with a key-fret band above the foot and a band of foliate scroll on the shoulder below dragon loop handles flanking the neck, the everted mouth with scalloped rim; the other vase of flattened baluster form, carved in low relief on one side with a monkey and a bird seated in a prunus tree, above a recumbent deer and on the reverse with a phoenix and a peony bush, with a pair of lion-mask and loose ring handles flanking the neck and a recumbent lion surmounting the cover, all within ruyi and key-fret borders
