A RARE LARGE MUGHAL GRAY-GREEN JADE SHALLOW BOWL
17th/18th Century
The thin, translucent, flared sides carved in "scooped" intaglio on the exterior with a broad band of shaped cartouches enclosing flower sprigs separated above by flower sprigs and below by leaf sprigs, with a band of palmette scroll above and a band of trefoils below, all within plain line borders, raised on a shallow, spreading foot carved on the underside with two rows of narrow grooved petals and a herringbone band surrounding a central flowerhead, the stone of grayish-olive color with fine opaque buff flecking throughout
