AN IMPERIAL ROBIN'S-EGG-GLAZED TRIPOD CENSER

The compressed rounded body with two low loop handles rising from the rim, covered overall in an attractive mottled blue and lavender glaze stopping short on the three sturdy feet, incised on the countersunk base with xu hua tang zhi (Made by the Hall of the Rising Sun); the wooden cover carved and pierced with dense floral scrolls, the domed centre mounted with a white jade medallion carved with double-gourds and leaves; the fitted two-tiered wooden stand also decorated with elaborate carving and reticulation, and a central white jade bi with an archaistic dragon carved in high relief, all supported on five legs
