The fort at Agra, built by Akbar after the demolition of the original fort in 1565, was evidently the model for Shah Jahan's fort in Delhi.
The fort walls, built of dressed red sandstone are 21 metres high. This watercolour shows the outer Delhi Gate and depicts the western side of the fort.
