A NEAPOLITAN GILTWOOD SIDE TABLE
First half 18th Century
The shaped and waved verde antico marble top above a pierced apron with foliate scrolls and flowers surrounding a central scallop-shell, on deeply scrolling cross-hatched C-scroll legs headed by foliage and trailing leaves, joined by a waved X-shaped stretcher centred by a grotesque mask surmounted by a pierced scallop-shell and flowers and terminating in claw and ball feet, the top of the support stencilled 'BURNS 79' and 'VAN 1', the underside with an old paper label inscribed '12'
