A LATE LOUIS XV ORMOLU-MOUNTED TULIPWOOD, AMARANTH, MARQUETRY AND PARQUETRY BREAKFRONT COMMODE

The moulded, canted rectangular liver marble top above a panelled frieze inlaid with laurel border above two long drawers inlaid sans traverse with three chequerboard panels, the central one inlaid with a martial trophy with central ribbon-tied cartouche, enclosing three fleur-de-lys, flanked to each side by poesies of flowers, including lilies, carnations and roses, the dished apron with foliate triglyph mount, the sides inlaid with trellis parquetry, on chamferred cabriole legs with acanthus-scroll sabots, intensive restorations and replacements to carcase, the fleur-de-lys marquetry panel possibly later, remounted, stamped 'AVRIL' and bearing false stamp 'DUBOIS' three legs spliced, the back with black inscription 'LCO'
