AN AUBUSSON PASTORAL TAPESTRY

Woven in wools and silks, depicting Flora holding a basket of flowers on her head, with children either side offering her flowers, set in a landscape with exotic palm trees, with later coat-of-arms to the centre top, within a floral border centred by a shield and within a later blue and mustard yellow outer slip bearing the signature 'MRD.A', restoration and areas of reweaving and patching, the outer slip turned over, originally part of a larger tapestry, the right hand 34¾ in. (88 cm.) wide section together with the top and lower borders replaced in the late 19th 20th Century.
