Each on spreading circular base and with baluster stem cast and chased with acanthus foliage, ribbon-tied oak leaf and acorn bands and lion's mask hung between with berried laurel swags, the detachable acanthus scroll branches each terminating in a vase-shaped socket with circular nozzles, with central reversible central light with cone finial, the urn and branches hung with chains, with beaded borders, marked on bases

These candelabra were made to commemorate the wedding of Friedrich Franz IV, Grand-Duke of Mecklenburg and Schwerin to H.R.H. Princess Alexandra of Hanover in 1904.

Heinrich Rose had became the court jeweller in 1901 at the age of 62. His post meant that he worked on many of the grandest pieces in the royal dinner service.
