A fine French silver-gilt dessert-service
Maker's mark of Pierre-Benoit Lorillon, the knives with maker's mark of Martin-Guillaume Biennais, Paris, 1809-1819
The spoons and forks with shaped stems cast and chased with a peacock in its splendour within scroll and foliage cartouche, the upper part with moulded border beaded at intervals, the reverse with a figure of cupid and coat-of-arms beneath Prince's crown, the knives with shaped tops, the stems cast and chased on both sides with cornucopia, thyrsus, mask and a simplified version of the same arms, comprising:
- thirty-six dessert-forks
- thirty-six dessert-spoons
- thirty-six dessert-knives with silver-gilt blades
marked on stems and blades
