QIANLONG TWO-CHARACTER MARK FOLLOWED BY THE CYCLICAL DATE DINGHAI AND LIU YUE ZUO IN REGULAR SCRIPT, ALL IN IRON-RED IN A LINE AROUND THE NECK, THE BASE WITH A GUYUEXUAN MARK IN IRON-RED, 19TH CENTURY

Of flattened rounded shape, painted in matt enamels with lotus pads and flowers on each side below a black-dotted band at the shoulder, with meandering scrolls dividing the characters Qian and Long on the main sides and nian and zhi on the narrow sides, all suspending ruyi heads and pendant jewels below the iron-red inscription, the glass with some muddy areas--2 11/16in. (6.8cm.) high, stopper

Lot Essay

The cyclical date corresponds to the sixth month of 1767, but the bottle is probably of 19th century manufacture
