A rare South German bone, ivory, fruitwood and brass miner's dial, signed on one edge Johann Oberhauser Von Schwaz Anno 1758, the upper face profusely engraved with scrolling foliage, the compass with white-metal dial, iron needle and clamp, the outer brass ring engraved with a 24-hour scale arranged to rotate and with a hand pointer, the side surfaces engraved with scrolls and neo classical decoration, the underside inlaid with bone and ebony decoration -- 4½in. (11.4cm.) long
