This vase has been produced with underglaze, water-colour decoration, which has then been honeyglazed and fired. It was an experimental piece and one other example with this technique is known, decorated in the Branch and Squares pattern. This example in Secrets shows the technique was clearly tried in 1933 or later. The Wilkinson's lion mark indicates it was a prototype which probably never went into production.
