The vendor first met Roy Orbison in 1963 when he visited Sheffield whilst on tour with the Beatles. A musician himself, the vendor played in an Orbison tribute group, the Rob "Orbison" Roys in the 1960s and 1970s, performing in working men's clubs around South Yorkshire. The vendor met Orbison each time he visited England and his admiration for the singer was rewarded in 1972 when Orbison gave him this Ovation guitar.
