An exhibition-standard 19th-Century gilt-metal Leroy d'Etiolles-pattern compressor,
signed CHARRIERE A PARIS, and further engraved Compresseur=Percuteur de Mr Leroy d'Etiolles and Exposition 1839, the gilt case enclosing the threaded steel shaft, with blued-steel guide slotting into case, the shaft running through a locking ring and terminating in a milled ring, with the sprung inner rod terminating in a second milled ring (incomplete) -- 10¾in. (27cm.) long
