An Imari baluster jar and domed cover with bijin finial, painted and gilt with a continuous scene depicting waterbuffalo before a terraced pavilion in a fenced garden strewn with prunus trees, irises and peonies, all within borders of shaped panels of the Three Friends amongst blossoming branches, the neck with ho-o on a floral and trellis pattern ground -- 27¼in. (69.2cm.) high, circa 1700, (the body cracked, the cover with rim section broken and restuck, finial damaged.)
