In 2021, the FVF1 Tourbillon Superligero marked the debut of Atelier FVF Genève, the new independent venture founded by renowned watchmaker Franc Vila. Conceived as a pure expression of his creative philosophy, each component of the watch was meticulously designed and developed under his direction, showcasing both his technical mastery and distinctive aesthetic vision. Every element is finished by hand to the highest standards of Genevan haute horlogerie, incorporating straight graining, beveling, chamfering, and frosted surfaces.
The present timepiece is a unique interpretation of the FVF1, distinguished by a skeletonised dial accented in the colors of the Italian flag, along with a personalised heptagonal date display. Its movement, composed of 240 components and offering an impressive 100-hour power reserve, seamlessly blends traditional watchmaking principles with a bold, contemporary architectural approach. The innovative unibody case-baseplate construction contributes to an exceptionally light total weight of just 54.8 grams, including the strap and buckle.
The dial is dominated by a one-minute flying tourbillon at 6 o’clock, featuring a three-armed cage housing a Glucydur balance. The cage itself is subtly curved, with each arm flowing gently downward, enhancing the sense of depth and dynamism. At 9 o’clock, the spring piston mechanism drives the date roller, forming an integral and visually striking component of the movement’s architecture.
Adding a poetic dimension, the titanium heptagonal 'Dolce Vita' day indication reinterprets the days of the week in Italian. While Martedì, Mercoledì, and Giovedì are displayed conventionally, the remaining days are expressed evocatively: Friday as Allegria ('happiness'), Saturday as Dolce Far Niente ('the sweetness of doing nothing'), Sunday as Dolce Vita ('sweet life'), and Monday as Tutto Passa ('everything passes'). Beneath this display, a spherical 3D lacquered day/night indicator, rendered in green and red in homage to its Italian inspiration, further enhances both the technical sophistication and visual allure of this exceptional timepiece.
