Lot Essay

The present chronograph is one of a series of wristwatches created to commemorate the Audemars Piguet Gstaad Classic, a prestigious classic-Car rally that takes place on the winding roads of the Swiss Alps every other year. The watch features an anthracite dial with applied rose gold Arabic numeral hour markers, fancy rose gold spade hands and a rose gold chronograph pusher at 2 o’clock. The caseback crystal is printed with ‘GSTAAD CLASSIC’; a acknowledgement of the partnership with the famous car rally. The single rose gold chronograph pusher is perhaps to mimic a stop-timer chronograph as used on the classic racing stopwatches.
