Limited edition of 66 pieces and presented in exceptional condition with full set of accessories, this titanium GMT Balancier Convexe by the renowned independent horological geniuses Greubel Forsey can only be described as spectacular, undoubtedly one of the most visually compelling and technically ingenious world-time watches on the market.
A astounding masterpiece of horology and introducing a new movement to the Greubel Forsey stable, the GMT Balancier Convexe is a typically individual interpretation of the GMT function combined with world-time indication and a spectacular three-dimensional titanium model of the Earth, the circumference with 24-hour day and night dial and the main meantime 12-hour chapter, is distinctively engraved on the border with the cardinal values of the Greubel Forsey maison. The globe makes one complete rotation every 24 hours anticlockwise, the Earth’s natural rotational direction. The 12-hour second time zone is indicated by the subsidiary dial. Impressively hand-finished, the upper half of the dial features a frosted finish that has been applied for the first time on titanium in a Greubel Forsey watch. The trademark 30° inclined balance is held in place by a stunning black-polished bridge mounted on fully polished steel pillars, it is flanked by a small seconds display. The newly integrated 72-hour power reserve is positioned without disrupting the compositional balance of the dial. On the back of the watch the sapphire cities disc displays the correct time for 24 cities in major time zones, it also displays the time in cities that observe Daylight Saving Time (DST). Placed between a 24-hour outer ring displaying the local time in 24 time zones and an inner 24-hour hour ring that is displaced by one hour to indicate the time in cities that observe DST. Moreover, the cities that observe DST are distinguished by having their engraved names filled with black lacquer on the sapphire disk. This Greubel Forsey GMT Balancier Convexe is the only world-time system that offers an overview of all cities that observe DST as well as their actual numerical time in the summer, enabling time to be read as such: when it is 9pm in London in winter, it is 10pm in London in the summer. The position of the continents on the globe as seen from the North Pole can be cross-referenced with the surrounding 24-hour equatorial chapter ring that doubles as a day and night indicator.
Measuring an impressive 42.9 mm in diameter, a reduction in size from earlier versions, the uniquely arched and ovoid shaped ergonomically designed case is designed with maximum visibility in mind so that the remarkable construction, finish and functions of the movement can be easily observed. the GMT function is adjusted by two pushers in the case band.
Offering an incredible opportunity to acquire one of the most exciting and innovative examples of contemporary independent haute horologerie, this GMT World Time wristwatch is the most impressive trophy for those who hold the endless pursuit of excellence in the highest regard.
Greubel Forsey Robert Greubel and Stephen Forsey’s working relationship of over 20 years is founded on their shared technical creativity and quest for perfection. The two watchmakers are fabled for their exceptional and avant-garde horology, combining highly complicated mechanical functions with uncompromisingly provocative styling concepts.
Robert Greubel and Stephen Forsey have become legends in the world of modern independent watchmaking. Working together since 1992, when they were developing complicated movements for Renaud & Papi, Greubel and Forsey decided to branch out on their own in 1999, setting up as the independents, CompliTime Greubel, la Neuveville and Bureau d’Etude et Prototype, le Locle, respectively. From this moment forward, they are focused on designing a new generation of tourbillons specifically developed to improve the timekeeping of the mechanical watch.
