signé, daté et inscrit ‘bij braij’ (en haut au centre) ‘den 30 October 1675’ (en bas à gauche) et ‘67’ (en haut à droite) et ‘feitima/ n° 144 les deux 8#’ (verso) et avec inscriptions ‘Sur un dessin de la même série et du même artiste il y avait cette inscription: de Schans Nastr. / 1670 / J: de Grave. : fec.’ (sur le montage)

JOSUA DE GRAVE, VIEW OF THE VILLAGE OF BRAY, NEAR BINCHE IN BELGIUM,PEN AND BROWN INK, GREEN AND GREY WASH, WATERMARK
This is a typical topographical view from Josua de Grave's graphic production in the 1670s: they are often produced using the same technique, with pen and brown ink, lightly enhanced with watercolor, and featuring this characteristic inscription in the center of the composition to precisely locate the place depicted. Several examples are preserved at the Staatliche Graphische Sammlung in Munich (inv. 2037, 2038, 11840, and 11841), the Städelschen Kunstinstitut in Frankfurt (inv. 3729), and the Kunsthalle in Hamburg (inv. 22000).
