The present sculpture depicts the Buddha seated in molded relief in dhyanasana, wearing a robe with folds indicated along his neck and chest. His hair is arranged in three rows of large spiral curls and surmounted by a tiered conical ushnisha, framed by a round nimbus. The face is composed of full features - wide heavy lidded eyes, full cheeks, and thick lips. He sits within a niche outlined with a foliage border. The fleshy facial type, delineation of curls and articulated hem around the neck correspond to another Gupta standing Buddha from Uttar Pradesh (The Huntington Archives, 27466), both which closely follow Mathuran models from the period.
