Moon jars are characterised by the minimalist form and luminous glaze. Originally crafted as functional storage vessels, they were typically thrown in two halves and joined at the center, where a seam is often visible. Regarded as among the highest achievements of Korean ceramic production, these jars embody the essence of Korean aesthetics.

Compare to a moon jar of similar size and glaze, sold at Christie’s New York, 21 March 2023, lot 179.
