Built in 1790 in Wilton, New York, Emerson's Tavern was the site of the first town meeting in 1819. This sign commemorates the Marquis de Lafayette who on June 30, 1825 passed close by on his journey from Whitehall to Schuylerville, New York during the final stages of his famous 1824-1825 tour.
