It is in the opinion of Anna-Marie Sandecki, the former Director of the Tiffany Archives and Heritage Collection and a founding member of the International Antique Jewelers Association (IAJA), that this bracelet is an early Jean Schlumberger design from 1947. Its design closely resembles that of a bracelet watch by Jean Schlumberger which was featured on the “Les bijoux de Jean Schlumberger” section of Vogue Paris (Winter 1946). The tassel motif, a recurring theme in Schlumberger’s work, was incorporated across many of his creations, including the ‘Tassel’ suite in the Tiffany & Co. archives. Bringing inspirations from Schlumberger’s family heritage in textiles, the tassels add depth and texture to the intricate openwork of delicate gold threads.
