Pierre Denizot, maître in 1740.
Leonard Boudin, maître in 1761.

A similar commode a la grecque by Denizot with guilloché enclosing flowerheads in the frieze, wreath-cast handles, ormolu festooned laurel at the angles above inlaid trompe l'oeil fluting, and nearly identical leg and feet mounts, but with different parquetry inlay, is illustrated J. Nicolay, L'Art et la Manière des Maîtres Ebénistes Français au XVIIIème Siècle, Paris, 1976, p. 145, fig. B. A pair of encoignures stamped by Denis Genty and with seemingly identical parquetry was sold Christie's, London, 22 May 1952, lot 103; although these encoignures originated in a different workshop than this commode, it is known that pieces produced by different ateliers were often the work of the same marqueteur. A number of pieces are recorded stamped by Denizot and Boudin, which were probably executed by the former and retailed by the latter.
