This pair of drawings by Francesco Panini depicts the Pontifical Palace and Gardens of Montecavallo, the Medieval name given to the Quirinal, one of the seven hills forming the Eternal City. A drawing by Prosper Barbot (1798-1877), dated 1820, depicts the same view with the fountain in the foreground and the recognizable painted vault in the background (Musée du Louvre, inv. RF 26644). This view can also be seen on an etching by Alessandro Specchi (1668-1729), entitled Palais Pontifical sur le Quirinal connu Montecavallo (Rome, Istituto Centrale per la Grafica, inv. S-CL2272-6994).

Cette paire de dessins de Francesco Panini représente le Palais Pontifical et Jardins de Montecavallo, nom médiéval donné au Quirinal, une des sept collines qui entourent la Ville Eternelle. Un dessin de Prosper Barbot (1798-1877), daté 1820 et intitulé Giardino di Monte Cavallo, représente la même vue avec la fontaine au premier plan et la voûte peinte assez reconnaissable au second plan (Musée du Louvre, inv. RF 26644). Cette vue se retrouve également sur une eau-forte d’Alessandro Specchi (1668-1729) appelée Palais Pontifical sur le Quirinal connu Montecavallo (Rome, Istituto Centrale per la Grafica, inv. S-CL2272-6994).
