The present suite of jewelry was owned by a member of the Saltonstall family, possibly Martha Saltonstall (1748-1823), daughter of Gurdon Saltonstall Jr. (1708-1785) and Rebecca Winthrop (1712-1776), and granddaughter of Gurdon Saltonstall Esq. (1666-1724), governor of the Connecticut colony from 1707 to 1724. Martha's sister Rebecca Saltonstall (1734-1812) inherited a basin by Jeremiah Dummer owned by Gurdon Saltonstall Esq., which was sold in these rooms, 22 January 2021, lot 289.
