Collection of Jacqueline Lafontaine Jacqueline Lafontaine, of Belgian nationality, was born in Shanghai in 1936. Her father was the director for the Far East of the Banque de la Société Générale de Belgique, and had settled with his wife in Shanghai in the early 1930s. They had four children, Jacqueline being the second. They lived in the French Concession of Shanghai, first at Avenue Joffre (Huaihai Road) and then in a duplex apartment at the top of the building "Le Picardie", Avenue Pétain (Hengshan Road) . They left China and returned to Belgium after the war, in 1946.
