Original heavy stock stub (approx. 1 5/8"x3 5/8") issued for the game played in Boston at the Huntington Avenue Baseball Grounds. Pittsburgh emerged the winner with the Pirates workhorse Deacon Phillippe pitching on only one day of rest leading his team to a 4 to 2 victory. The ticket stub denotes the two participant teams at top with game number three indicated beneath along with rain check information. The small population of inaugural World Series tickets, both Boston and Pittsburgh, are particularly susceptible to condition issues given their original fragility and environment of use. This example retains fine visual appeal having had professional conservation including repairs to several creases/small tears, in-painting to some edge chips/creases, and backed with acid free rice paper backing for stability. One of only a scant few exemplars to be offered publicly as issued for the first World Series. Highly uncommon offering as the Holy Grail of all baseball related ticket issues. Originally offered as part of the Charlie Sheen Collection in 2004. Includes Letter of Authenticity from Frank Romano (Professor Emeritus, Rochester Institute of Technology & President, Museum of Printing) and copy of original offering corroborating Sheen Collection provenance: GD (VG-EX appearance)
