These lots have been imported from outside the EU for sale using a Temporary Import regime. Import VAT is payable (at 5%) on the Hammer price. VAT is also payable (at 20%) on the buyer’s Premium on a VAT inclusive basis. This pair of rare Pidocchioso grey porphyry vases, of antique form, is mounted with finely cast ormolu bases decorated with a distinctive Greek key frieze, which closely relates to those visible on a design of an urn attributed to Louis-Jean Desprez (1743-1804), a French painter and architect who worked in Sweden for King Gustave III.
