The first British edition of the harrowing account of Luigi Amadeo’s expedition toward the North Pole. Although the party beat Nansen’s “Farthest North” record, the Duke lost two fingers and was unable to join the sled journey to 86° 34’. Arctic Bib. 10423.

Two volumes, quarto (249 x 192mm). Title in red and black; portrait frontispiece; 15 photogravure plates; 5 maps, 2 of which folded in pocket; 2 panoramas, numerous photographic reproductions in text.
