AN IRON-RED-ENAMELLED AND GILT-DECORATED DAJI WALL PLAQUE
18TH CENTURY
The plaque is molded in the form of a double-gourd supported on an ornate wood-simulated stand, and tied at the narrow waist with a turquoise-enamelled sash, all below a large gilded bat at the mouth rim. The upper body is gilded with the character da within a medallion surrounded by five blue-enameled bats against a gilded brocade and iron-red ground, and the lower body is similarly decorated with the character ji.
