RARE APPEARANCE of one of the earliest works on teratology. The author, the son of Johannes Schenk von Grafenberg (1530-1598), another medical writer, was physician to the Count of Hanau-Lichtenberg, practising in Hagenau (Alsatia). His book is divided into two sections, the first on human, the second on animal abnormalities. Most examples are from the 16th century, and for each the date and place of birth are given with relevant medical details. The book is hardly known at auction. RBH records one sale in 1982.
