The reference 3710/1 offered here for sale is an exceedingly rare example of a timepiece that eluded the observant eyes of Patek Philippe's strict quality control in spite of a subtle yet ostensible flaw: a closer look at the dial reveals a Roman XIII instead of VIII, most likely the result of a human error at Stern Créations, supplier of Patek Philippe’s dials. The present owner who purchased it in 1998 noticed this error only recently following which he decided to consign his watch to this auction.

The combination of the exclusive dial, the attractive overall condition and private provenance render this ref. 3710/1 a fascinating find the superstitious and nonsuperstitious collector of unusual timepieces.

Reference 3710/1
Launched in 1998, it is the second so-called 'Jumbo' Nautilus after the legendary reference 3700 which was first produced in 1976. Reference 3710/1 was discontinued in 2006
