Originaire de Bonn, Kemp s’installe faubourg Saint-Antoine et se spécialise dans la réalisation de marqueteries à motifs géométriques et bouquets de fleurs. Aujourd’hui on peut trouver ses œuvres aussi bien au château de Versailles, qu'au Metropolitan Museum de New York ou encore au Museum für Kunsthandwerk à Francfort.
