VERY RARE FIRST EDITION OF A CRITIQUE OF NEWTON’S OPTICAL THEORIES. ‘Discussing the phenomena of parallax, [Boscovich] drew attention to the distance of fixed stars in dimensions of light years. He formulated, and was the first to do so, a general photometric law of illumination and enounced the law of emission of light known under Lambert’s name’ (DSB).
