A GILT-LACQUERED BRONZE FIGURE OF A GUARDIAN KING
MING DYNASTY (1368-1644)
The figure represents Vaisravana, (Ch. Duowen), the Guardian King of the North, holding a stupa in his raised left hand. He wears elaborate armour with a celestial scarf billowing above his shoulder and trailing down his sides. His face wears a wrathful expression below the openworked crown and topknot. There are traces of lacquer.
