The hinged glass top opening to a silk-lined interior, above a serpentine frieze centered on each side with shells and trophies, on cabriole legs with scrolled sabots, signed F. Linke to the molding, the lock-plate stamped CT/LINKE/SERRURERIE/PARIS/131

Linke produced a number of these charming display tables in 75 cm. and 100 cm. widths, the first of which was produced in the early 1890s and the final example for the English retailer of Maple in 1919. (C. Payne, European Furniture of the 19th Century, Woodbridge, 2013, p. 247). Another example of this form with original kingwood veneers was sold at Christie's, New York, 9 June 2014, lot 89 ($30,000).
