The dish has similarities in design to three examples sold Christie's London and attributed to George Bullock. These three had a more stylised border and a dished centre with cavities for twin wells and a pen tray. See 14 November 2013, lot 106, 07 June 2007, lot 3, and 23 April 2009, lot 1. This lot having a more naturalistic inlaid border and the kneeling angels is more likely to be an early Victorian dish in the manner of George Bullock.
