拍品专文

This work and the following lot were made by the younger brother of Jakob Philipp Hackert (1737-1807). After training as a painter in Berlin, Carl Ludwig joined his brother in Rome in 1772 and remained with him until around 1774. He stayed in Italy probably until 1778, one year after executing the present landscapes (C. Nordhoff, Jakob Philipp Hackert, Briefe. 1761-1806, Göttingen, 2012, pp. 529-30).

We are grateful to Claudia Nordhoff for confirming the attribution to Hackert on the basis of a digital photograph.
