The washer is carved in the form of a lotus leaf with an incurved rim, the exterior naturalistically carved with leaf veins and a lotus stalk growing from the bottom.

This rare example of a lotus washer is stylistically very similar to a bamboo jar in the form of a lotus leaf bearing a Hou Xiaoxeng seal and dated to the Ming Dynasty, illustrated by H.L.Huang in The Exquisite Art of Bamboo Carving, Taipei, pp. 236-237.
