A HUANGHUALI SEDAN CHAIR DOCUMENT CASE, JIAOXIANG
LATE MING-EARLY QING DYNASTY, 17TH CENTURY
The cover has a long rectangular top above the low sides and hinged at one side. It opens to reveal a conforming upper section of the box with two small lidded compartments at either end, above a lower section that is recessed. The ruyi mounts on each of the top corners are of baitong whilst the side mounts and hinged lockplate are of huangtong.
