The shaped handles stamped and chased with the Prussian eagle within shells and scrolls, the reverse with the monogram 'WR' with Royal Prussian crown above, comprising:
Twenty-four table-forks Twelve silver-gilt dessert-forks
A pair of asparagus-tongs A pair of fish-servers
A serving-spoon
And the following with filled handles
Twelve table-knives with stainless steel blades Twelve silver-gilt dessert-knives
A pair of salad-servers with part ivory attachments A cake knife
A serving-slice Two serving knives
weighable silver 140 oz. (4,356 gr.)
The initials are those of Kaiser Wilhelm II (r.1888-1918).

Emperor Wilhelm II (r.1888-1918), succeeded both his grandfather and father as Emperor or Kaiser in 1888, known as the ‘Year of Three Emperors’. He entertained on a lavish scale as had his Prussian ancestors at court.  After his abdication in 1918 he lived in exile at Huis Doorn, Netherlands, until his death there in 1941.
